There are 5 basic categories for CPAP masks also known as interfaces.
Nasal Masks: are the most ordered style of mask. Nasal masks are triangular in shape and cover the nose only. There are many variations of the nasal mask. They come in gel, silicone, and even cloth. This mask style is generally well tolerated at any pressure and any sleep position.
Full Face Masks: cover the nose and mouth. Some cover the whole face. Full face masks are recommended for people who cannot keep their mouth closed during sleep. It is also recommended for people who have some sort of blockage in one or both nostrils. For example, people who have a history of a broken nose, deviated septum, or severe allergies. Full face masks can be a challenge for side sleepers so a CPAP pillow is recommended.
Nasal Pillow Masks: are the smallest options. Nasal pillow masks typically have two “pillows” that seal on the outside of the nostril. This mask style is easy to wear in all sleep positions.
Oral Masks: this is not to be confused with an oral appliance. This mask is for people who absolutely cannot tolerate any other types of interfaces.
Children: These masks are made specifically for kids!
CPAP pillows make sleeping with your CPAP easier. It prevents the mask from being pushed out of place and leaking while lying on your side. It is recommended for use with all masks.
CPAP water-based moisturizer is a great product for those patients who have nasal irritation due to the dry air of CPAP. People wearing nasal pillow type masks will especially benefit from using the CPAP moisturizer to prevent rubbing or chapping of the nostrils.
Mask cleaners and mask wipes are an easy way to keep your mask clean and free from facial oils and debris.
